About Tara Guenthner, Former Championship Director, PGA of America
Tara is the co-founder of Hipp Inspired, a full service Event Design & Management Firm based in Louisville, Kentucky. Offering a complete range of event design and development services to clients throughout the United States, Hipp Inspired is also keenly focused on creating original events that inspire fun, healthy living and a spirit of teamwork.
Prior to creating Hipp Inspired, Tara spent 20 years working for The PGA of America. She was Tournament Director of the 1996 & 2000 PGA Championships, the 2004 Senior PGA Championship, and the 2008 Ryder Cup. As Tournament Director, Tara was responsible for overseeing all event operations, spectator amenities, ticket sales, corporate hospitality sales and service, public relations, community relations and volunteer operations. She is credited with creating and directing numerous one-of-a-kind events surrounding the championships she managed and she is well known for being an enthusiastic and compelling public speaker.
During her years with The PGA, Tara was consistently imaginative, driven and energetic. She was notorious for combining creative thinking, solid relationship building and great operations to accomplish remarkable things for the PGA. With Hipp Inspired, Tara looks forward to using original thoughts and attention to detail to adeptly design events for others that boldly incorporate their brand, culture and goals. She’s also excited to create one-of-a-kind events that INSPIRE others to be their best.
Tara attended the University of North Carolina on a golf scholarship (1988-1992) and hopes one day to regain her single-digit handicap. She now lives in Louisville, Kentucky with her husband and their two adorable boys.
