About Joanna Barsh, Director Emeritus, McKinsey and Best-Selling Author
Director Emeritus at McKinsey & Company, Joanna Barsh is also the best-selling author of How Remarkable Women Lead. In 2008, she launched the Centered Leadership project at McKinsey to help accelerate development of aspiring leaders inside and outside the firm. Together with dozens of colleagues, Joanna turned Centered Leadership into learning programs. Her new book, Centered Leadership, includes the tools, exercises and practices from them – along with stories of leaders to encourage you on your own leadership journey.
Joanna is a strong advocate for women. Invited by Mayor Bloomberg, Joanna served on NYC’s Commission on Women’s Issues from 2002 to 2013. She led ground-breaking research on unlocking the potential of women leaders for The Wall Street Journal’s Women in Econ Task Force in 2011 and 2012 and for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in 2013. She has engaged with business and government leaders globally, including Australia, Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Malaysia, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, and the U.K.
Joanna serves on the Genesco board and Sesame Workshop. She holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Chicago and Harvard Business School, where she was a Baker Scholar.
