About Gene Wade, Education Entrepreneur
Gene Wade has dedicated his life to making quality education available to everyone. He believes education is the solution to many of the biggest challenges facing people and societies around the world.
Gene is the Founder and CEO of UniversityNow, a social venture headquartered in San Francisco that operates two universities: Patten University and New Charter University. They are the first online universities in the U.S. that are fully-accredited, self-paced, and that offer affordable, pay-as-you-go tuition models. UniversityNow’s schools operate on a cutting-edge, adaptive learning platform that makes the learning experience engaging and personalized.
Before UniversityNow, Gene was CEO and co-founder of two other educational companies: Platform Learning, a tutoring company that served tens of thousands of low-income students throughout the U.S., and LearnNow, which managed charter and public schools throughout the U.S. Prior to becoming an education entrepreneur, Gene was a corporate attorney. Gene has an MBA from The Wharton School, a J.D. from Harvard Law School, and a B.A. from Morehouse College.
