About Emily Cavalier, VP Strategy, Digital DUMBO. Founder & CEO, Midnight Brunch
Emily Cavalier (@ECava) is the hostess, chef and founder of Midnight Brunch, a series of rogue dinner parties in the middle of the night. Big companies like Google, KitchenAid and the Mexico Tourism Board pay her to create unforgettable experiences that center around food, strangers and cocktails. Cavalier’s deeply invested in exploring and enabling work/life integration as well as supporting small businesses as well as young women / minority entrepreneurs.
Cavalier is also a partner and VP Strategy in Digital DUMBO, a media company and community platform that produces conferences, networking events and workshops for tech, agency, startup and creative professionals. Digital DUMBO’s domestic and international communities consist of over 14,000 designers, developers, engineers, strategists, founders, investors and creative thought leaders.
In her work with Digital DUMBO, she has a hand in content marketing, sales strategy and execution, live events and account management with specific purview over content marketing, events and corporate sponsorship sales. Previously, Cavalier spent five years as one of the first employees at a high-growth professional services firm building and managing a line of business serving Fortune 500 CMOs before leaving to focus on her building own company.
Her strategic side is balanced by passion and creativity. She writes on her site, Mouth of the Border, an online community for lovers of ethnic food, culture and craft cocktails in New York City. As former journalist, she’s scrawled, explored, written and produced everywhere from poetry periodicals to newspaper, magazine and broadcast outlets. Her broadcast studies took her on stints from Chicago to Washington, D.C. to Paris, finally concluding with a three-month assignment reporting and producing a daily, English-language newscast on the island of Aruba. They asked her to stay, and some days she wonders why she didn’t.
In her free time, Emily can be found in downward dog or riding her new (old) bike all over Brooklyn. She speaks French, and wishes she also spoke Spanish. She loves the New England Patriots.
She was born in Boston, Mass. and was raised in Florida and New Hampshire. Cavalier received a bachelor’s degree in English and Journalism from the University of New Hampshire, and went on to receive a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. She’s spoken at a number of food, tech and business conferences. Cavalier works and plays in Brooklyn, NY.
The one thing you cannot make her eat, ever, is scrambled eggs with ketchup.
