Victoria Leigh Velasquez

Standing on the edge of a mid-life awakening, I am shouting to hear my own voice above the naysayers. I scribble, I scrawl, I dream, I bullshit. But I am also brave enough to fail because I believe I can succeed. Eventually.

Leadership Metro Richmond

Program Manager

Originally hired as the Administrative Coordinator to answer the phones and be the global assistant, Leadership Metro Richmond is where I have grown as a nonprofit professional. I am the guru with some growing experience with Fonteva. Almost two years ago, I was promoted to Program Manager - I now manage the youth empowerment programming and the volunteers.

Gap, Inc.

Customer Experience & Visual Brand Manager

For over a decade, I had the joy of working with some of the most fun, diverse, incredible group of people. Gap, Inc. is where I learned about teamwork, collaboration, and confidence. My greatest joy was the employee journey - it was and still is important to me that people enjoy where they work and have fun doing what they do.

Virginia Commonwealth University

Bachelor of Arts, Magna Cum Laude, Gender, Sexuality and Women's Studies, minor in Religious Studies

Returning to college to earn my bachelors put me in an environment where I had to think critically about the new direction of my life. Luckily, VCU is a wonderfully diverse school, rich in cultural experiences; a small city in the city. I majored in Gender Studies but it is my minor in Religious Studies that opened up my mind, showing me the how and why people create cultures.

Richard Bland College

Associate of Science, Cum Laude, Biology

The best classes I took were the work-study nature trips. A small group of us would go weekend camping, immersing ourselves in unfamiliar environments. I went hiking at Assateague Island in VA, canoeing in the Dismal Swamp in NC and spelunking in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I know it's corny but I have yet to see stars more beautiful than the ones I saw during those weekends.
