East Of England Ambulance Trust
NES Teamleader - Transport Management
April 2013 — Present
I manage a team non-emergency staff across two sites working to arrange transport for patients. I have quickly learnt the contracts in which we adhere to, and have an excellent knowledge of what they contain. I work closely within the management team and senior management team to contribute significantly to winning new contracts and maintaining ones we already run.
Liaison with internal and external departments is a key part of my job, and allows me to use my professional communication skills - both written and verbal.
I provide managerial support to the team and the wider team when the Ambulance Liaison Officer is unavailable. I undertake audits for the service on a regular basis to ensure we meet KPIs and I produce, maintain and collate appropriate control records as an administrative procedure and to regulate the service that we provide.
Training is a major part of the role, developing a system to ensure that new starts are equipped to undertake their new role to a high standard. In line with new starts, I work with the ALM to ensure that policies and practices are adhered to at all times. I am currently creating a training manual in line with new procedures and practices and hope to have this implemented in the near future.
I am responsible for appraisals and personal development reviews of staff, and support any training needs recognised. I also work with the other members of the management team to shortlist and interview potential future employees.
Running my own department is both challenging and rewarding and enables me to use my organisation skills and ability to multitask. I ensure that I consistently evaluate the service we provide and implement improvement methods where there is a recognised need to do so. A consistent, high achieving, successful team and work output is my main focus as an integral part of a management team.
