Books in translation are my passion, and I provide Japanese translation services to Japanese publishers looking to submit their books to English language publishers. I prepare reader reports, provide preliminary translations, and translation notes. I worked for a major children's book publisher and studied literature for young readers in college, so I specialize in picture books through middle grade readers.

In addition to those services I also edit texts already translated into English for clarity and voice, design tip-sheets/sell-sheets and other marketing materials, write quality copy for digital or print platforms, design and code mini-sites for books or authors, review contracts, and provide copy editing and proofreading.

Developing and maintaining relationships was my favorite part of this job. I built a strong network of industry professionals and forged new partnerships with up-and-coming publishers. I traveled internationally to meet with potential partners, represent the company at events, and promote our titles. I used my network to build buzz for our hottest titles, but also focused on representing the Scholastic brand as a source of quality content.
I also took over the creation of all of our marketing materials, email marketing, and website content. I took the initiative to spearhead a marketing campaign highlighting select backlist titles to key international markets that resulted in over $100k additional revenue in translation rights sales.

I love being a creator an have started an online store, together with two other designers, to sell the things we create.

The Anachromantic Shop is filled with handmade, and often one-of-a-kind, jewelry and accessories. Our designs reflect our various loves of aesthetics from other time periods, and many of them incorporate vintage findings and fabrics.

Improving the world is my driving force and I desire to work with companies who welcome my enthusiasm and passion. Working for the Wildlife Conservation Society really gave me a greater connection with the global ecosystem and an appreciation for activism. I supported the company by manageing staff schedules for Guest Services Dept. at the Bronx Zoo, tracking attendance statistics across the four WCS parks, creating training materials for seasonal employees, overseeing ordering and distribution of uniforms and supplies across the four WCS parks, managing an office staff of eight employees, and training new-hires.

I chose CUNY City College not only for their excellent Creative Writing program, but also because of their Publishing Certificate Program. I was raised by books and all of my life I wanted to be a part of their life cycle. I learned about the publishing process from start to finish and have a deeper appreciation for storytelling and the people behind the scenes.
