Software Development Manager
June 2012 — Present
At Paypal I lead teams to create demand-generation tools for small and medium businesses. Driving engagement, loyalty, and rewards between merchants and customers.
Brought together product, program, engineering and other teams to create Paypal's shopping portal. This was a highly visible product featured prominently on the Paypal.com website. I was the key liaison between development and business stakeholders, setting expectations and aligning product with business goals.
Served as functional manager for two onsite teams of developers and QA engineers. Worked across matrix organization with other development teams. Set goals for projects and individuals, provided regular feedback during one-on-one meetings and formal reviews. Coached and mentored team, delegated increasingly complex tasks as the team developed. Grew team with training opportunities, career guidance, and hands-on experience with increased responsibilities. Drove adoption of best practices including test-driven development, unit testing, agile development with scrum, code reviews, pair programming, and github pull requests.
Worked with senior management to balance engineering priorities with product needs, developed release plans and schedules. Presented product overviews and demos to large audience across engineering and product organizations. Evangelized team and our successes across the organization, building credibility and visibility.
