Media Studies and Design, A/B

At AS, candidates investigate the media in order to understand and evaluate how meanings and responses are created. The contemporary media landscape and its changing contexts are studied in terms of products, platforms and technologies:

Unit 1: Investigating Media
Unit 2: Creating Media.
At A2, candidates are encouraged to demonstrate, develop and formulate their understanding of the media and its influential role in today's society as well as debating major contemporary media issues:

Unit 3: Critical Perspectives
Unit 4: Media: Research and Production.

Photography and Design, C

-level Photography and Design provides students with opportunities to develop personal responses to ideas, observations, experiences, environments and cultures in practical, critical and contextual forms.

This four-unit specification, two at AS level and two at A2, requires students to develop their ability to show a range of skills. These include:

independence of mind in developing their own ideas
an interest and enthusiasm for art and design
the experience of working with a range of media, including traditional and new media and technologies
an awareness of different roles, functions, audiences and consumers of art and design practice.

Geography, C

The areas we studied in this course are as followed

engage with the relationship of human populations to each other over space and time
study the relationship between human populations with their physical environment at a variety of scales from the local to the global
consider their own role in relation to themes and issues being studied and the roles, values and attitudes of others including decision makers
choose between specialised content at both AS and A2, including a dedicated fieldwork option on Unit 4.
The specification follows an issues and impacts approach to contemporary Geography that is suitable for all students.
