Rice University

Head Historian

To date, I have revamped the social networking aspect by updating the flickr account and creating a Facebook page, which resulted in a huge success not only with current students of the college, but also alumni and families wishing to see the success of their children. I currently provide photos and information to the Yearbook Committee about events that are continuously occurring on campus through the new Facebook page and by email. One of the highlights of my college career has been meeting with a founder of Martel College who provided me with a variety of historical pieces from when Martel College was first built. These are now displayed in a trophy case located in our large common area. Consequently, students have become more interested and more actively involved in preserving Martel College culture and traditions.

Rice University

Student-Athlete Advisory Committee

This carefully chosen committee gives student-athletes a voice within the Rice University campus, to act as a liaison between student-athletes and fellow athletic teams, the greater Houston community, and Rice's Residential College system. We enable student-athletes to participate in open dialogue about issues that impact them in their daily lives, as well as issues that arise across the conference and NCAA. I was chosen specifically by my swim coach as I demonstrated a strong desire to participate and serve my team, the department, and Rice. I am able to stay informed and involved about issues involving student-athletes from campus to the NCAA, which allows me to connect with students on various sports team and develop my interpersonal skills even further. Needless to say this committee has resulted in a strengthening of my leadership skills.

Learn to Swim Instructor

I taught small groups of children between he ages of 0-10 years how to swim. Each child began at different skill levels and learned at different rates. Not only did I increase my tolerance and patience, I was able to develop my interpersonal skills as interactions with a different generation tends to do. I am passionate about helping others reach their full potential and being able to clearly see the improvements in the children with their behavior, listening skills and performance was the most gratifying. Knowing you left an impact on each child, and their parents gives one a great sense of fulfillment.

Waimarino Ltd

Receptionist

This was my first summer job and I was the first point of contact from clientele whether it was on the phone, email or person to person. I handled the cash register, took bookings and answered enquiries. The receptionist position was the central nerve to the whole operation and I therefore had to know about the rest of the workforce at all times. I dealt with complaints and handled myself well in stressful situations.
