Worked as Test Engineer on Ciena's Carrier Ethernet/Optical Packet Switch portfolio; packet-based service delivery switches to multi-bladed, N:1 redundant module-based,
high-capacity aggregation Switches.
Built end-to-end network topologies testing Layer 2, Data Link Layer packet ingress processing and extraction, back plane fabric behavior, egress traffic engineering, and packet encapsulation. Testing Layer-2 and Layer-3 protocol behaviors. Stress tested 1:1 Dual Redundant Switch Fabric Modules for 800 Gb/s full duplex configurations, N:1 Redundant Switch Fabric Modules for 1 Tb/s full duplex configurations.
Subject Matter Expert (SME) for high-availability fault recovery from hot-protected sub 50ms to cold-protected switchover/failover behaviors. Tested the control/data plane protocols (knowledge of 30+ protocols) on the 5410 Switch.
Developed and executed system-level Performance, Interoperability (hardware, software, protocol based), Scalability, and Stress test cases working with development and engineering staff. Wrote feature set test plans for manual and automated testing. Worked with IXIA traffic generators and DiversifEye traffic emulators.
Most recent Project - 5410 SAOS 7.3.0 - MPLS Regression:
Built end-to-end complex test topology (11 5410s), from customer edge through MPLS core network. Regression test full range of MPLS (martini-draft) and Ethernet transport and control protocols and L2VPN capabilities. Tested fault-resiliency and fault-recovery functionality.
