Trace Regional Hospital
Emergency Room and Outpatient Manager
April 2010 — Present
As Emergency Room supervisor I am responsible for maintaining the day to day operations of the emergency department. Responsibilities include scheduling and managing six employees. I monitor competency of the employees in order to maintain safe and effective care of the emergent patient. I function as the scheduled RN for the Monday thru Friday, 7-3 shift. I carry out all the duties expected when caring for emergency patients. These duties include assessment, determining urgency, recognizing life threatening situations, monitoring, and goal setting for the patient. I am trained to initiate and carry out ACLS protocols during cardiopulmonary resuscitation. I can recognize the need for assistance and delegate as needed.
I am also required to maintain adequate ER statistics on a day to day basis and report these to the appropriate personnel on a weekly basis. These include Door to Doctor times andDoor to Door times for each patient in order to continually improve patient satisfaction. Flex reports are maintained and submitted on a weekly basis in order to manage employee time and monitor for excessive overtime.
I ensure that supplies are used in a cost effective way. This is done by checking charts and ensuring that supplies are charged to the patients as used. I am also responsible for inventory every six months and reporting this to appropriate personnel.
