Deep Focus

Associate Director, Social Media

Looking to grow and learn within my field, I was thrilled to accept the opportunity to be a part of the Deep Focus team. Here, I have the opportunity to really be on the forefront of social media, with my finger on the pulse. I'm working with both large brand and entertainment clients. And I couldn't be more excited to work with the incredibly talented team here.

Digital Kitchen

Associate Director, Social Media

Adding brand marketing to my capabilities, I dove headfirst into social media strategy for Califia Farms, developing guidelines, best practices, and helping a small team manage the day-to-day execution. I have also been integral in creative ideation for clients such as Netflix and HBO, developing marketing strategies for future shows and films.

Mango Chili Lime Sangria

Tasked with promoting Califia Farms' new line of Aguas Frescas, I created cocktail recipes and produced a series of videos.

Coffee on Coffee on Coffee

How do you explain the "Califia Cafe" (a group of Califia Farms' products that work great together)? With social videos of course. Recipe created and video produced by me.

The Queen Latifah Show

Social Media Manager

As the first and only person charged with creating a social media strategy for the upcoming TV show, I developed the strategy from the ground up, including influencers, paid media, capturing backstage content, contesting, sponsored content, and create in-show integrations. Along with my Social Media Coordinator, we managed the day-to-day on Queen Latifah's personal channels as well as channels for the show on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, Tumblr, Google + and even a Flipboard magazine. I weekly reported the results of my work to Sony Marketing. With Facebook as our primary target, we grew her profile 1 million to over 7 million followers.

Newsletters, blogging, backstage interviews, and web development advising also fell under my prevue. As I like to say, our team was very "DIY."

Career

EQAL

Senior Associate Editor

I combined my excitement for social media and new technology with my love of music, television, crafting, and cooking to develop and implement innovative and effective on-going social media and web content strategy for high-profile celebrity brands.

"YOU CAN'T BAKE A CAKE IN THE MICROWAVE." - Troy Carter, Lady Gaga's Manager

Planetary Group

Music Publicist

Starting as an intern, I impressed the team and was quickly hired. I managed over 50 clients for which I created, launched, and maintained a strategic publicity campaign. I worked with many new and unknown bands, securing them coverage on prestigious online and print outlets like AOL Spinner, Pitchfork, Brooklyn Vegan, Brand X of the LA Times, Billboard Magazine, PopMatters, and The A.V. Club/The Onion.

Addicted to Shows

Editor

A wise person once told me that if I want to work in entertainment, don't wait for someone else to hand me experience. I created and managed a music blog, grew a volunteer team of writers and photographers, and developed compelling content, resulting in the site’s inclusion in blog aggregators Elbo.ws and WeAreHunted.com.

IceCreamMan.com

Publicity and Marketing Intern

Although I had experience writing and running my own music blog, this was my first foray into working on another blog, writing festival and music reviews and helping with website updates. I also learned a variety of guerilla marketing tactics from meetings with him and his crew. And most importantly, that work should be fun.

BermanBraun

Film, Television, and New Media Intern

I knew I wanted to work in entertainment, but how did the industry work? How could I break into it? I won an internship with the Carsey-Wolf Center for Television and New Media at UCSB and was placed at BermanBraun. Here I experienced how TV ideas are culled and how shows are developed.

University of California, Santa Barbara

Bachelor of Arts, Sociology

I was driven by my curiosity of why people do what they do. Why do subcultures exist? How does entertainment tie into political and popular culture? How is the internet shaping how we socialize? My courses at UCSB whetted my thirst on these topics, and yet I still thirst to learn more.
