I am interested in finding an industry where I can still leverage my technical background, but that respects and encourages a work/life balance allowing me to pursue my outside interests of snowboarding, rock climbing, and traveling.
Estimator and Project Engineer
Salt Lake City, Other
I have been working in road and highway construction since graduating in engineering from Virginia Tech in 2009. My career so far has exposed me to almost every role within the construction industry. I have worked for one of the largest companies in the world as well as a small start up.
"Life is not about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself." - George Bernard Shaw
My dream job would be researching and presenting resource conservation policies in the western region.
January 2013 — September 2013
I worked as a Project Engineer and Project Manager on several different roadway construction jobs. As a Project Engineer I supported the Project Manager in tracking on site activities, submittals, documentation, payments, and other various project needs. As a Project Manager on two smaller scale projects, I managed all of the above myself as well as handling job setup, material acquisitions, writing contracts, submitting change orders, resolving design errors, fostering client relations, and supporting the field staff.
Construction Engineer II
June 2009 — January 2013
I worked as a field engineer on a $1.1 billion 24-mile highway reconstruction of I-15 in Utah County. The joint venture was Provo River Constructors, which is comprised of Fluor, Ames, Ralph L. Wadsworth, and Wadsworth Brothers. I supported the team by managing subcontractors, planning and scheduling work, identifying field design changes, budget forecasting, and material ordering.
