Intern - Logistics

Coordinated daily with Warehouse Manager and monitored in/out flow of warehouse shipments. Collaborated with quality and manufacturing departments to timely identify shortages in stock. Reported periodically to the Logistics Manager and the General Manager. Held seminars and presented bimonthly on the outcome and progress of the assigned projects.

• Headed monthly review and team meetings of warehouse personnel and acquired feedback (Kaizen).
• Established critical bottlenecks in stock flow with respect to fluctuating production trends.
• Used BOM (Bill of materials) and created database of parts consumed, receipt and on-hand stock.
• Disseminated these data to determine Kanban Quantity and re-iterated buffer stock of sparingly used parts.
• Forecasted warehouse output to schedule work hours; Developed new bin identification system.
• Reassigned bin locations effectively to facilitate sequence picking and improve productivity.
• Assisted Perpetual Inventory and coordinated with supervisor to carry out stock inspection.
• Performed load testing on breaker mechanism; Prepared non-conformance reports (aided Quality Dept.)
• Conducted a statistical study of quarantine leakage test failures and investigated the causes.

Project(s) Undertaken:

• Benchmark Time to Compute Picking Efficiency
Performed time and motion study to compute and analyze the time spent on dispatching parts to assembly. Achieved an overall 9% increase in warehouse output.

• Improve Warehouse Space Utilization
Located obsolete parts and displaced them to redundant sites. Identified 7% of parts under utilizing space.Developed a dynamic storage system and reduced bin size to increase facility space.

• Implementation of Effective Warehousing to aid Kanban System
Proposed a new warehouse layout and devised a characteristic lean system to phase out on-hand inventory.Projected a savings of $4.6k/year and reduced commutation time within warehouse by 67%.
