Appalachian Trail Conservancy

Trail Management Assistant

Returning to my third long season with the A.T.C. and serving as primary support for seasonal field-based projects in Southern New England (Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Southern Vermont) working within the framework of the federally-legislated Cooperative Management System. As the Appalachian Trail has rich heritage in volunteer stewardship, working with these organizations as a partnership, supports the Appalachian National Scenic Trail (ANST), a unit of the National Park Service (NPS).

Work with volunteers with these primary responsibilities:
-Trail Maintaining Club Support
-Natural Heritage Monitoring and open space/invasive plant management
-Corridor Maintenance and Monitoring
-Community Outreach within Great Barrington Trail Community and region, as well as seeking new outreach opportunities and programming at the Kellogg Conservation Center and within the region
-Trail Assessment data collection
-Assist with Stewardship of historic Kellogg Conservation Center, home of the ATC's Southern New England Office

Wildstone Farm

Outreach Assistant and Farm Hand

-Worked here prior from September 2008-May 2009 and per diem when available for harvests or market preparations
-Assist with social media by updating website and social media pages, as well as creating simple graphics for these sites
-Created web presence for farm with a basic template website, profile on Local Harvest, social media tips, and assisted with edits once they got their own URL
-Helped sell produce at farmer's markets
-Planted and harvested according to biodynamics timeframes
-This farm was one of the first certified organic farms in Vermont!
