Kiva Zip Fellow
September 2015 — Present
Kiva is a microfinance nonprofit famous for crowdfunding zero interest loans for entrepreneurs in emerging economies. Four years ago, Kiva launched in the US to help entrepreneurs who cannot access capital via traditional financial institutions. I am completing a 4-month fellowship and am primarily recruiting new borrowers for Kiva Zip loans and guiding all local borrowers through the loan application process and their crowdfunding campaigns. I also onboard new trustees and work with Kiva’s existing network of trustees to plan events and workshops as well as refer and endorse borrowers.
• Recruit underbanked small businesses in the DC Metro Area through events and trustees, and assist with loan applications and subsequent crowdlending campaigns on Kiva Zip
• Partner with nonprofit, for-profit, and government organizations to offer small business technical assistance, and provide financial and educational resources to entrepreneurs
• Plan and host events for local Kiva network of borrowers, trustees, and lenders
