Currently handling matters across a broad range of legal disciplines, with a primary focus on labor and employment law and civil litigation. Assistant City Attorney for many of the firm's eleven (11) municipal clients.
Handle multiple daily conference calls to advise human resources directors, police chiefs, city managers, and department heads regarding a variety of labor and employment; management; and litigation matters.
Represent management in employment-related hearings on a monthly basis (arbitration, unemployment compensation, EEOC, Public Employees Relations Commission, civil service board, and Fourth District appeals arising therefrom).
Assist employers with employee discipline and terminations; investigations; development of personnel policies; family and medical leave matters; wage and hour law compliance; grievance and arbitration; defense against unfair labor practices charges; unemployment compensation appeals; and EEOC defense. Conduct sexual harassment training.
Represent public and private clients in all phases of civil litigation, including appeals. Represent private clients in race discrimination litigation matters. Represent public clients in civil litigation matters, including motion practice and depositions for construction litigation, contract disputes, forfeitures, foreclosure code lien matters, and landlord/tenant matters.
Assist various clients in the development, implementation, and enforcement of red light camera programs. Prosecute red light camera violations for various clients 2-3 times per week and argue related motions; prosecute municipal ordinance violations monthly.
Serve as board attorney for municipal boards, including Code Compliance and Economic Development.
