Yes, I was a liberal arts major at one of the best technical universities in the world. Being immersed in an environment filled with cutting edge research and technology while studying the theories that ground our society gives me a deep appreciation and understanding about the intersection of the two. Our liberal arts program was heavily influenced by the fact that we were at an engineering school; analysis, data, numbers and research played a large role in our learning- and I strongly believe that this focus on the empirical is the way forward in driving new ideas and progress in how we examine markets and governments.

Georgia Department of Economic Development

International Trade Intern

Our work at the GDEcD is right at the intersection of the public and private sectors. As a department in the Georgia government, we are focused on creating and increasing economic opportunity for our constituents. In the International Trade division, we work with mostly small to medium sized Georgia businesses to help them promote their goods and services internationally, and increase Georgia exports abroad.

U.S. Department of State

Interning at the State Department was definitely one of the coolest experiences I've ever had and really opened my eyes to how US policy is formed and implemented. Some of the highlights of my amazing three months: working on UN resolutions for the General Assembly, scheduling the IAEA Director General's annual trip to DC and following him around for two days- getting to be there when Secretary of State Kerry greeted him in his chambers, and watching President Obama speak on TV at the UN while inside the State Department working on the same issues he was discussing.
