As the Automation and Data/Comm Manager, I am responsible for all Radar and Communication inputs to the Southern California Terminal Approach Radar Control Center (SCT TRACON). I manage the maintenance program for each unit, strictly adhering to FAA policies and procedures. I approve leave, evaluate performance, and administer disciplinary action when needed for twenty highly trained technicians. I initiate actions to install, repair, or restore systems and services, identifying hazards and ensuring unacceptable risks are mitigated. I collaborate with system users, planners, engineers and contractor personnel in the testing, installation and operation of new or modified systems, documenting safety-related changes, analyzing and assessing risk, identifying hazards and ensuring hazards are tracked to resolution. I also assess risk mitigation strategies and monitor the effectiveness of these strategies throughout the project/program lifecycle ensuring budget constraints are adhered too. I track and provide oversight, perform direct safety-related certification on systems, subsystems, equipment and services in support of the National Air Space (NAS). I am responsible for the oversight of several projects currently in progress at SCT including the Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System (STARS), and the National Airspace Information Display System (NIDS), which will provide Air Traffic Controllers greater situational awareness improving services and safety the FAA provide to commercial aviation.

Ridgecrest System Support Center Manager

Supervisor of the Ridgecrest System Support Center (SSC). Responsibilities include the direction and coordination of all work performed within the SSC which requires an advanced knowledge of the technical aspects of work assignments, budget, human resources, and other administrative policies and procedures for the Radar, Communications and Environmental units. I am also responsible for the direction of fifteen technical and administrative support staff involved in providing safe and reliable services to commercial and general aviation aircraft within the National Air Space as well as military users within the R-2508 military operating complex. I plan and organize resources to accomplish more than one organizational unit/project/program dealing effectively with fiscal restraints. I initiate actions to install, repair, or restore systems and services, identifying hazards and ensuring unacceptable risks are mitigated. I collaborate with system users, planners, engineers and contractor personnel in the testing, installation and operation of new or modified systems, documenting safety-related changes, analyzing and assessing risk, identifying hazards and ensuring hazards are tracked to resolution. I also assess risk mitigation strategies and monitor the effectiveness of these strategies throughout the project/program lifecycle. I provide oversight and perform direct safety-related certification on systems, subsystems, equipment and services in support of the National Air Space and R-2508 complex. I identify problem areas and develop recommendations for new policies and procedures, to include memorandums and letters of agreement between the R-2508 Complex Control Board and the Federal Aviation Administration. I am responsible for scheduling and conducting safety inspections on thirteen remote facilities annually ensuring OSHA and FAA safety standards are met. I am also responsible for the hazardous material inventory for thirteen remote facilities. I am the Contracting Officers Representative for all contracts relating to the Ridgecrest SSC with Level II certification authority, and I have developed Independent Government Cost Estimates (IGCE) and Statements of Work (SOW), facilitated contract administration and assisted in selecting contractors on contracts ranging from major electrical upgrades of ASR-8 facilities to maintenance of portable toilets. I assisted in developing the FAA’s Technical Operations Safety Action Program (T-SAP), a Voluntary Safety Reporting Program, to ensure ICAO and FAA guidelines were met fostering a healthy safety culture within the FAA. I acted as a member of the Event Review Committee (ERC) Chair representing ATO management from November 2012 to July 2013. I monitor and evaluate employee performance, initiating corrective and disciplinary actions when appropriate, approving leave, travel and training to identify staff development needs.

I developed and recommended methods of enhancing efficiency of systems through modification and application of existing or emerging technology ensuring Operation Risk Management guidelines were followed. I am an expert in the use of analog and digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, transistor testers, signal generators, impedance meters, and AC/DC differential voltmeters to measure electrical values. I have extended knowledge of electricity, engine generators, electrical distribution and air-conditioning systems with an E.P.A. universal certification for the handling of refrigerant. I am an expert in the use of electronic test equipment as well as outstanding computer skills, with a CompTIA network + certification, including computer aided design programs, Excel, Word and Power Point.
