I was appointed as a member of the independent evaluation board at the II Spanish National Awards of Local Best Practices on Gender Violence (2014 edition).

As such, my duties consisted on the following:
- Revise local promising practices presented to the category of advocacy and public awareness
- Assess their feasibility, added value and transferability to other contexts.

I evaluated all the good practices presented to the above mentioned category (a total of 72 practices), providing scores, rationale and key development opportunities for each single practice assessed.

DG Internal Policies of the EU - Policy Department of Citizen's Rights and Constitutional Affairs.

The Policy Departments are configured as the think tank of the European Parliament, and provide background information and expert research on topics requested by the parliamentary Committees. Due to my strong specialization in gender, I was assigned to work with the Parliamentary Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM).

General assignments:
- Collect material and analyze relevant information on requested topics.
- Assist in the selection of grant proposals for external studies.
- Support in the revision of studies and relevant materials.
- Provide logistical support in the organization of workshops and events.
- Attend to parliamentary meetings.

In addition, it is worth mentioning the following achievements:
- Written a study on sexual exploitation requested by the Parliamentary Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM).
- Followed the parliamentary work of the FEMM Committee.
- Liaised with representatives of EU institutions, UN agencies and INGOs.
- Drafted parliamentary documents required by the department and the FEMM Committee.

Independent evaluator

I was appointed as independent evaluator within the National Evaluation Board of the EU Leonardo Partnerships Program, which is part of the European Lifelong Learning Programme.

My main duties included the following:
- “Ex ante” revision of European cooperation projects in the field of vocational training, involving education institutions and private organizations.
- Assess coherence, transferability, impact and European Added Value of each project.
- Provide scores and rationale for each single project, in order to qualify for EU funding within the Programme.

Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID)

International consultant expert in gender

I was the gender expert within the board of consultants. Our goal was to develop the initial phase of a cooperation project between Spanish and Moroccan Governments in the field of justice reform, which had among its main objectives the development of strategies to foster the access to justice of women and children victims of violence in Morocco.

Activities in the field:
- Interviews with representatives of Moroccan ministries involved.
- Interviews with National Prosecutor, specialized prosecutors and judges.
- Interviews with country representatives of UN.
- Interviews with representatives of national NGOs.
- Visits to Courts and Tribunals in Rabat, Salé and Khemisset.

Main outcomes of the consultancy:
- Provided diagnosis on the state of play, and identified key challenges and opportunities to develop the project.
- Drafted the guidelines to implement a public service of legal assistance.
- Highlighted key actions to enhance inter-agency coordination.
- Provided benchmarks to further develop specialized protocols.
- Posed strategies to strengthen the role of judicial offices for victims of violence.
- Included new gender-sensitive indicators.

Young Professional (Gender & Law)

The DG for Gender Violence is responsible for proposing national policies on gender violence and trafficking, and for coordinating competent authorities.

Given my legal background and my specialization in gender and migration, I was responsible of the following duties, under the general supervision of the Deputy Director:
- Revise draft legislation and provide inputs to policy recommendations.
- Monitor the enforcement of the law on gender violence in courts and create and maintain the related database.
- Assist in the screening of asylum claims on gender grounds and follow-up the asylum procedure. Create and maintain the related database.
- Draft correspondence and communications addressed to internal departments and external agencies.
- Follow-up singular cases of gender violence and coordinate with authorities involved when appropriate.
- Handle internal inquiries and external requests of information (including -but not limited to- citizenship consultations).
- Assist in the validation of training programs.
- Attend to official events, seminars and workshops related to gender violence.

Besides, it is worth to mention my collaboration with the Inter-ministerial Asylum Commission of Spain (CIAR) aimed at reinforcing gender mainstreaming in the asylum procedure. In particular with the following inputs:
- Provided gender-sensitive indicators for the assessment of the due diligence of the State of origin in providing protection against gender-based persecutions, and the effective access to such protection.
- Written country of origin reports on the status of women's human rights, which had substantial impact on the recognition of the refugee status to a number of applicants.
- Participated in the design of structure and contents of a training program on gender addressed to the members of the CIAR and the asylum instructors. Besides I lectured the presentation "Violence against women and gender as causes of international persecution", conducted the practical workshop with a colleague, and assisted with organizational issues.
- Liaised with UNHCR country office and its national representative.

It also stands out my collaboration with the Embassy of Ecuador in a project on gender violence addressed to Ecuadorian population in Spain. My contribution could be summarized as follows:
- Provided technical advice in the design of a training program for NGOs.
- Lectured a presentation on gender violence legislation in Spain addressed to the partners of the Embassy and representatives of NGOs.
- Liaised with representatives of the Embassy and Ecuadorian authorities, and represented the DGVG in related events.
- Followed the entire project and selected transferable best practices.

Secretariat of Equality. Council of Salamanca

The Secretariat of Equality of the Council of Salamanca is the agency competent for the development of policies to advance gender equality in the region of Salamanca.

The internship was divided in two parts:
I - The first consisted on attending to the training sessions prepared by the Secretariat, related to the organization and competencies of the Secretariat, its areas of work, and the support services on gender violence available in the region.

II- The second part was focused on research and personal work, and its objective was for the intern to apply the knowledge acquired and gain insight into the work of the secretariat.

My contribution consisted in a project to raise awareness on gender-based violence among migrant population. I went through the formulation process from the initial research on the state of play to the mapping of resources and the definition of objectives and strategy. I delivered the proposal with the guidelines for its implementation.
