Contributed to the work done in the Early Case Assessment Bureau, screening all arrests that took place in Brooklyn, New York done by the NYPD.
Reviewed all Desk Appearance Tickets (DATs) or summons to appear in court by a police officer, express reports, supporting depositions and prepared the files and notices as well as orders of protections.
Responsible for picking up misdemeanors and violations as well as drafting complaints and preparing files for arraignments.
Drafted screening sheets, complaints, declined prosecutions before having them viewed by a deputy.
Spoke with arresting officers as the precinct that the case was being processed from. Got all facts for case from arresting officer or the civilian witness before beginning write ups.
Screened all problem DATs in which officer had to be present in DAT office during write up and interviewed.
Answered phones, sent faxes and created memos for supervisors to view.
