Assisted in making and serving dinner with fellow volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House for injured/disabled children and their families through Jewish Volunteer Connection (JVC). In addition, I will be welcoming new individuals and families to Baltimore as part of a new welcoming committee called "Shalom Baltimore" where I will help plan and attend events. In addition, I will help with the Chanukkah party, helping those who are less fortunate, such as the disabled in our community. I also worked in the database for events and distributed mailings.
Assisting staff, board members, case managers, & fellow volunteers with administrative, marketing/promotional & event duties, including: Bowl for Kids Sake, The Biggest Little Tailgate Party, The Biggest Little Holiday Party, & MentorZing 2012.
I helped to promote a marathon this fall with a program called 'DetermiNation Maryland' in placing pamphlets in gyms, restaurants, as well as in public places including Towson University. I also did administrative work in placing information into their organization's database regarding the golf benefit at Hayfields Country Club. Another task I will be helping out with will be the "Making Strides" promotion campaign.
I helped to promote events around the community, in addition to helping out around the office with general administrative tasks. I also participated in Black Eyed Susan Day during Preakness weekend by giving out gift bags to breast cancer survivors. I will also be involved in the Baltimore Running Festival, in addition to "Marathon for a Cure" as a volunteer.
Helped to promote this organization at the Towson Town Festival by handing out pamphlets, and having those who were interested sign up for the organization's walk in the fall at Ripken Stadium. I also gave out balloons and candy to the kids who stopped by the booth. "Breathe Deep Baltimore" is another event I will be helping out with in the near future.
I applied developmentally appropriate methods in the care of infants and preschoolers. At the same time, I utilized computer, organizational and communication skills and assisted with administrative duties.
I mentored at the Towson University Center for Adults with Autism as i also provided peer interaction for young adult students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. My classmates and I then prepared and delivered power point presentations based on the mentorship program and what we learned during the process. We also encouraged the students and facilitated integration into campus life so they could have a smoother transition of being accepted into their community.
I observed children ranging in age from a few months to 3 years old in a classroom setting and helped the kids finish their puzzles and other activities, as well as helped the in-class teacher with taking the children outside to keeping them busy in making sure they were safe.
I then wrote detailed notes after observing the children on a weekly basis for my major-required class in Services to the Community.
Helped to promote social interaction between students as well as events happening around campus.
I attended several meetings and promoted several events around campus, and the same time, also connected most of the Family Studies majors together. This was also an organization which helped to give back to the community.
This organization helped me in getting more acclamated to Family Studies practices as well as interact with other Family Studies majors. In addition, it prepared me in using their practices through other organizations that I would end up working for and/or with in the soon to immediate future.
I helped in assisting the public relations department in the promoting and planning of their events. I also contributed articles to the hospital employee newsletter.
