Responsibilities
- Management of a variety of civil and environmental projects, including client and team liaison and all project management functions
- Preparation of project proposals and bids to win and secure work
- Environmental and Civil engineering design functions, including calculations, modelling and analysis
- Lead and undertake field programs to monitor and sample air, water and soil at contaminated and hazardous sites
- Risk assessment for environmental and human health outcomes, hazard identification, source-pathway-receptor evaluation, mitigation planning
- Work with rural and remote clients including Australian Indigenous communities on waste management projects (Torres Shire Council, Doomadgee Council)
- Participate and lead internal strategy formulation and organisational reviews
Key Achievements
- Designed and specified more than 5 solid waste landfills and 5 waste transfer stations
- Conducted feasibility assessments on innovative waste infrastructure
- Secured over AUD1.5 Million worth of projects from a variety of clients
- Highlighted as an International Achiever for AECOM’s celebration of International Women’s’ Day. 2013

Field Project Officer

Engineers Without Borders Australia is a member-based, community organisation that creates social value through engineering. EWB has focused on developing skills, knowledge and appropriate engineering solutions for over 13 years. EWB strategically deploys qualified Australian professionals with their overseas partner organisations to achieve long-term impact through knowledge sharing and sector building.
Responsibilities
- Part of a team in local Indian NGO Exnora Green Pammal on a number of projects, based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu
- Bidirectional capacity building and knowledge sharing
- Review of collection systems at suburb scale, planned efficiency improvements and monitored implementation of changes
- Assistance in the operational management of a number of solid waste related projects including:
o Large-scale vermicomposting plant, managing a throughput of 500kg+ of organic waste per day
o Anaerobic digestion and biogas plant, managing a waste throughput of 250kg of organic waste per day
o Dry recyclable segregation and commodification program
Key Achievements
- Assessed, designed and trialled a biochar system that used waste vegetation and palm fronds to produce clean-burning charcoal
- Assisted in the preparation of environmental education and awareness programs including permanent education displays and school programs.
- Established a region-wide field officer network to support placements and share technical and non-technical solutions
