Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman

Golf Associate

I was working at the incredibly well kept and very tough 'Blue Tip' golf course at the Ritz-Carlton. It is a Gregg Norman designed 9 hole course set on a beautiful property on the island of Grand Cayman. As you would expect with a Ritz-Carlton property, the service is second to none and it was a real pleasure to offer such an amazing product with an incredibly high standard of customer service. The company is always encouraging you to WOW the guest with the service, this has given my already high level of service a real opportunity to grow. I thoroughly enjoyed working for such a prestigious company and look forward to use the skills I developed here to further my career within the industry.

Beach Suites Resort (Britannia Golf Course)

Golf Associate

I decided to make the move to Britannia Golf Course after the Ryder Cup as I was ready to move abroad and develop my customer service skills in a different culture. I enjoyed my time immensely here at this 9 hole Nicklaus signature course as it allowed me to give a lot more personal attention to the management of the guests and members golfing experience. I personally took on the organization of the growing members competition calendar that was being run on a weekly basis when I arrived and turned it into a very popular and successful part of the club. I was successful in starting an order of merit/FedEx style tournament setup with qualifying to Ryder cup events and also sponsorship for weekly and season long trophies. This provided a very valuable revenue stream at the clubhouse and also on course through food and beverage sales, it also helped create a fun atmosphere for the members of the club to get involved with. I also helped to establish a customer journey from the 1st point of guest contact, this in itself improved the customer service at the course and helped the guest feel a lot more welcome during there experience.
I am extremely proud of the changes I was able to make at Britannia and enjoyed the amount of potential that I was able to capitalize upon during my time with the company. The club gave me the opportunity to use the customer service experience I had collected over the previous 7 years and implement them. It was very satisfying to see them work instantly and have many letters of recognition from guests and members alike to show their appreciation.

Celtic Manor Resort

Golf Services Supervisor

During early spring 2006 I was given more responsibility and promoted from 'Golf Associate' to 'Golf Services Supervisor'. I managed and supervised 15 to 30 team members (depending on season) in three different areas, the boot room (bag store), golf concierge and the outside team (which included course starters and course Marshall's for each of the 3 courses).
My role as supervisor included duties such as staff motivation, implementing a yearly training matrix, ensuring everybody was trained and carrying out the standard operations procedures, safe working procedures and complaint handling for the whole Golf department.

The Celtic Manor Resort

Golf Services Associate

I began working as a Golf Services Associate during my holiday time at University, which was a perfect way for me to transfer my academic skills to the workplace and see how a large 5* resort like the Celtic Manor works. I enjoyed becoming increasingly involved with the day to day running of the department and worked in all aspects of the department during this time. This included working as course starter and course Marshall, working in the boot room (bag room) and also in the golf concierge department (renting golf carts and looking after all other golfer needs). I also took any opportunity offered me to take training course to further develop professionally during this time. I built up a great working relationship with the staff, members and guests of the resort during this time and have personal letters of gratitude to show for this time.
