Every year, The Women's Fund of Central Ohio hosts their signature event, Keyholder, where they interview an extraordinary woman. Past subjects have included Goldie Hawn, Whoopie Goldberg, Ashley Judd, Melissa Etheridge and Diane Keaton. Next year's Keyholder will feature Vanessa Williams!

They also include individual tributes to women. This is one of mine!

Franklin County Court of Common Pleas

Staff Attorney

I researched statutory law, case law and procedure germane to all civil and criminal matters pending before the Court. I also drafted decisions and entries related to all motions. Finally, I conducted status conferences and civil pre-trials related to motion practice and helped resolve disputes with respect to trial continuances, discovery and any other case management issues.

Franklin County Court of Common Pleas


My responsibilities monitoring and coordinating a highly active criminal docket, reviewing all filed motions and preparing case files and related documentation, as well as working with prosecutors, defense attorneys, probation officers and pre-trial services. I also served as the primary facilitator of juror engagement.


Office of Ohio Governor Ted Strickland

Policy Advisor for Public Safety & Criminal Justice

Main point of contact to the Governor's Office for five executive agencies including the departments of Public Safety, Rehab & Corrections, Youth Services, Veterans Services and the Adjutant General.

Lead liaison to the statewide crisis management team in emergency situations related to security, public safety and disaster response.

Met with stakeholders, legislators and other state and local policy makers.

Reviewed, coordinated, recommended and monitored agency and legislative policy proposals and monitored legislation throughout the legislative process.

Obtained Security Clearance Status from U.S. Government.


Office of Ohio Governor Ted Strickland

Director of the Governor's Office for Women's Initiatives & Outreach

Served as Chair of the Ohio Council on Women and Girls; A body of Ohio legislators and representatives of each cabinet agency, statewide office and the Supreme Court of Ohio. The Council provided policy-related recommendations to the Governor, promoted public outreach and assisted in developing legislative and policy proposals of special importance to women and girls.

Engaged in public discussions and discourse with organizations all across Ohio regarding the status of women and girls in relation to health, education, economic security and personal safety.

Managed staff, interns and a $60,000+ budget.

Coordinated the 2010 Ohio Women's Hall of Fame.


Ohio Department of Taxation

Legislative Liaison

Met with state and local government representatives, private interest groups and the general public to explain departmental program policies and tax legislation.

Reviewed and analyzed legislation, legislative proposals and analyses submitted by other division administrators.

Prepared written testimony regarding department positions on legislation and prepared written responses to legislators, government officials and the general public on behalf of the Tax Commissioner.

Attended legislative committee hearings and wrote memoranda regarding substantive tax policy issues on behalf of the Tax Commissioner.


Office of Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner

Legislative Aide

Researched, analyzed and monitored state and federal legislation.

Represented the Secretary of State's office to members of the Ohio General Assembly, legislative committee hearings and various non-governmental organizations.

Developed and implemented program procedures and policies relating to general inquiries, legislation and special programs within the Department of Legislative Affairs.

Served as a liaison between the Department of Legislative Affairs and other divisions within the office of the Secretary of State including the divisions of Campaign Finance and Business Services.

Researched and responded to inquiries from legislators and their staff, county boards of elections and the public.

Lead project advisor on the development of Ohio's first online judicial voter guide.

I have been involved in the launch of several startup organizations. My work includes working with the founding teams to develop core visions, “elevator pitches,” and business strategies. As a creative, I am also involved in the critical process for creating an image for the startups before launch; I assisted with logo, web and image design elements.
