Bus operator

I drove as a professional bus operator for three years full time with overtime every week. I drove a 45 foot, 40 foot, and articulated 60 foot, hybrid 40 foot, buses in all weather conditions on various public bus routes. I drove for Rtd the largest transportation bus company in Denver co. Mostly I bid on the highway regional routes most, but occasionally did my fare share of city or local routes too. I helped people with disabilities, deployed wheelchair lifts, secured mobility devices, informed people on policies, collected fares, informed people of fares, and transfered people in a set estimated schedule. I pre trip buses, filled out any defects on dot checklist, and navigated around any Dailey road detours. I stayed current on bulletin boards informing us drivers of any new changes of route or detours to public roads that would affect the routes we were on.

I was earning 18.50$ per hour.

Service advisor

I worked as a service writer in busy import & domestic automotive repair shop. My duties included the following, opening the shop every morning disabling alarm system, turning on power, making coffee, getting computers turned on and business ready for work. I then would greet customers, tagging keys, writing up work orders of work or concerns about there vehicle, enter any new contact data into our system invomax, estimate time of completion, arrange shuttle rides, then hand work out to 4 master technicians, and 2-3 hourly employees.

I would while multi tasking answering phones for appointments setting, finding parts for technicians, selling used parts from our used parts racks, generate the technicians notes into estimates for the customer. Once I had all estimates, prices, figured out I would call customers back selling work, up sells, recommended additional repairs to the customers. I would then give sold work to technicians, Oder any needed parts, and arrange completion times for all work. I would also turn all work orders into invoices, collect money, run cards, and close out every invoice in our system. Towards the end of the day it was arranging pick up times for shuttle van, and holding un completed jobs or large up sells or repairs over for time arranged with customers and technicians.

It was a fast paced position that I enjoyed very much. I was making 16.00 $ per hour with a percentage bonus on everything that I sold. I really enjoyed the sales aspect of this position, also it was clean work, with lots of interaction on tech side and customers.

Upholstery technician

I started the upholstery company from the ground up as owner and technician of upholstery. I created advertising with local companies through value ads, phone, and website. I would travel to people's house, or business, give them free estimates on all kinds of upholstery projects such as cars, boats, restaraunt, furniture, and other misc. upholstery work. I help decide what looked good or design it for them the way I would do it if it were mine, then estimate and sell the job, pick up work, creat invoices, order all materials, complete projects, collect money, close invoices, deliver products, answer phones, keep tract of sales tax revenues for the city doing business in, invoice and file, and follow up on any potential leads for work. I also trained my girlfriend on how to do the art of upholstery. It was a wonderful expirence to be my own business owner and get life learning experience on owning and operating my own small business. I really enjoyed all aspects of it but when the economy crashed in 2008 I went back to working on cars as used car mechanics.
