December 2007 — Present
Environmental and natural resource management consulting, with a focus on aquatic ecology and fisheries science. Projects include fisheries studies, adaptive managementand monitoring plans, endangered species consultations, NEPA/CEQA and environmental permitting, and river and riparian restoration and management planning.
* San Francisco Bay and Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta Estuary - Developing solutions for water supply, habitat restoration, and flood management in the Bay-Delta. Evaluated stressors and project effects on fish species protected under the Endangered Species Act, including delta smelt, longfin smelt, Chinook salmon, steelhead and sturgeon. Designing monitoring plans to measure success of aquatic and wetland restoration efforts and guide adaptive management at site-specific and regional levels.
* Salton Sea - Lead scientist for State of California's project to create aquatic habitat ponds adjacent to Salton Sea. Coordinated studies of contaminants, fish physiological tolerance, water quality modeling, and selenium ecological risk assessment and treatment technologies. Prepared CEQA/NEPA EIR/EIS documents. Collaborated with engineers in design, feasibility and monitoring plan for saline habitat ponds. Developing an adaptive management and monitoring program.
* Lake Tahoe (Upper Truckee River), Colorado River, Chesapeake Bay and other aquatic systems
