When I was younger, I thought “being the boss” was so glamorous. I thought, oh, wouldn’t it be nice to just kick back and say yes/no/yes!/absolutely not! all day until I got to skip off to lunch—somewhere fancy, of course—and then beam back to the office and say yes/no/yes!/absolutely not! until it was time to go home to my cute imaginary dog and silk PJs.
And then I became a boss—well, a manager—and I realized how much work it is. And how nervous you feel on the inside—because while, yes, you’re making decisions—if you make the wrong one, it’s your name on the line. Not to mention, there are real people behind the work you’re doing every day. When you become a manager, you have a whole team that is looking to you for clear direction, inspiration, and personal development. It’s your job to identify everyone’s strengths and weaknesses, delegate projects accordingly, and motivate them to achieve the company’s goals. Their success is your success. But how are you supposed to make a whole team successful when you’re secretly wondering if you’re doing a good job?
Enter Levo’s 31-Day March Management Challenge, a daily plan to master the new rules of leadership. Here’s how it works:
1. Envision: You’ll work on this more on Day 4, but take a few minutes to sit down and define what a successful team looks like to you—do you want to boost morale by helping the team bond? Or motivate your group to bring in more revenue this quarter? Knowing this will help you get the most out of the challenge.
2. Follow: Visit the #MarchManagementChallenge profile each day for an easy, actionable to do item. (And by following the profile, you’ll also find daily updates on your dashboard.)
3. Share: Post your favorite #MarchManagementChallenge tips and articles to your Levo profile, which will show up as updates on your Levo networks’ dashboard (and make you seem super in-the-know about the latest leadership techniques). And don’t forget to keep us posted on your progress with the hashtag #MarchManagementChallenge on Twitter and Instagram. You ready? Let’s do this!
