From that early morning alarm, to inevitable transit delays, to the never-ending line at your favorite coffee shop, stress triggers are often waiting to bait you before you even set foot in your cubicle. Either way, eight in 10 Americans report being stressed about their jobs. Millennials and Gen-Xers have a higher average stress level than any previous generation—and experience the least relief. With workplace stress on the rise, it’s essential to find ways to relax in order to preserve a healthy lifestyle and maintain the energy and focus you need to reach your goals. Meditation is a scientifically proven method to do just that.

So, how do I get started?

One of the best parts of practicing meditation is that it requires zero materials, previous training, or a specific location to get started. And there are great resources out there for beginners and pros alike. We took our cues from “Creativity, Spirituality, & Making a Buck” with David Nichtern, a class offered through Creative Live, that provides helpful tools on understanding the practice of meditation and sharpening your skills, making the integration of mindfulness as a positive force in both your personal and professional life both easy and manageable.
