The Brief: The World Has To Say Goodbye To Selina Meyer Soon

Smile It Out

Hopefully tonight you will be watching the U.S. Open Women's semi-finals as four American women will be competing for the first time in decades! Venus Williams is one of those women and in addition to being an amazing athlete she also has some stellar business advice (she has her own fashion line and interior design company amongst many other investments and endorsement deals.) She says never take on more than you can handle and if you say no, do it with a smile. "I love to say yes and am very accommodating," she said. "Say 'no' with a smile."

Goodbye To You

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...for television that is. It was great to hear today that Sarah Paulson will once again be collaborating with Ryan Murphy and no it is not for American Horror Story: Clowns, Clowns and More Clowns but instead for a Netflix series called Ratched about the famous nurse from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. The original Oscar winning film was based on Ken Kesey's 1962 novel of the same name with Louise Fletcher, who won for the role, as the scary nurse. But the bad news is is that after 7 seasons HBO's award-winning VEEP will finally come to an end. "It became clear that this season should be the last season," star and producer Julia Louis-Dreyfus says. "We don't want to repeat ourselves or wear out our welcome. The story has a finality to it that feels end-of-series." Julia won five consecutive Emmys for her role as Vice President and then President Selina Meyers (beating Mary Tyler Moore's record in the process.)

Avocadoh-no!

The good news is we made it to September. The bad news is, you can't afford to eat avocados and pay your rent. Prices are surging for this beloved veggie that people think has the healing powers of a unicorn. Currently the average wholesale price for a 48-count case of avocados was $83.75. This is more than what it was last year, according to the data from the American Restaurant Association. This means you are going to have to have just chips and salsa. No guac...like an animal or, you know, a person that doesn't like guacamole.
