Broke & the City
Looking to find a city that won't break the bank? Well, so are most people. But luckily WalletHub did all the hard work and found the cities that are best (and worst) for your WalletFitness. WalletFitness™ is about turning the country’s biggest stressor – money, according to the American Psychological Association – into one of your biggest strengths. Reaching top WalletFitness means you’re in a stable financial position, able to comfortably meet existing obligations as well as plan for the future. WalletHub compared the 150 largest U.S. cities across 27 key metrics – ranging from unemployment, poverty and foreclosure rates to income volatility and savings habits – to see where people are in the best and worst financial shape. San Francisco, Fremont, CA, Seattle, WA, San Jose, CA and Madison, WI are great for your wallet apparently. Newark, NJ and Brownsville, TX not so much. Just One More Thing
Feeling a little stressed? Or maybe burned out? Here's something that could help turn that around. Just do one small creative thing everyday. According to a new study in the Journal of Positive Psychology small creative hobbies such as cooking, or knitting will help you be happier overall. The study looked at 658 volunteers and had them describe their mood and rate how creative they were on a daily basis. Creativity here was defined as “coming up with novel or original ideas; expressing oneself in an original and useful way; or spending time doing artistic activities." They found that people who were doing more creative things everyday were "significantly more energetic, enthusiastic, and excited the next day.”
Apparently Dunkin' Donuts is worried you aren't getting enough coffee in your, well, coffee. They want you to get coffee from your food too. That is why the coffee chain is teaming up with Kellogg's Pop-Tarts to make you extra-caffeinated Frosted Chocolate Mocha and Vanilla Latte Pop-Tart flavors. The Chocolate Mocha Pop-Tarts are “filled with chocolatey-espresso goodness and topped with whipped cream-inspired frosting." The Sugar Plumb Fairy has nothing on the Kellogg's people. Well, you have to give both brands props for being creative. Especially when they have to compete with Starbucks which just released its new Apple Pie Latte ,which is pretty much what dreams are made of. If Hansel and Gretel had known about this, they would have run right past that Witch's house and headed straight for the nearest Bucks.
