I think I may have asked prematurely (1 1/2 months into the new job), but my boss would have never revisited my salary (like he said he would) unless I had asked for more. P.S. I got the bump :)

I think our goal shouldn't be just equal pay for the same job title. It should be equal pay for the same amount of effort put into the job. I've seen women work twice as hard in the same job as their male counterparts, and still earn the same or less. "Equal" doesn't always mean "fair" if someone is having to work harder to either prove themselves (because of their gender) or to pick up the slack for other co-workers (male or female).
