Holiday party season is officially in full-swing. There are the shindigs with friends, the fancy parties in hotel penthouses, and the formal work events (or sometimes informal, if there’s an open bar). And here at Levo, we’ve been to them all, so we know exactly what you need to do to look your best. We’ve picked out three of the go-to holiday looks, and put together a step-by-step guide for how you can achieve them… without keeping a whole second closet under your desk.
1. The Friendly Happy Hour
You and your girlfriends always get together around the holidays for some drinks at your favorite bar. It’s pretty casual, but you don’t want to look like you do every other night at happy hour.

The Outfit: For your daytime look, consider wearing a nice dress with a pop of color. Then pair it with black tights, a black blazer, and flats. For the evening transition, take off the blazer, add a statement necklace, and finish it off with black pumps.
The Makeup: Start with your normal work routine: a little concealer, mascara, and a pink lip gloss. Then for the nighttime look, amp up your eyes with some eyeliner and a darker shadow, and use a deep red lipgloss instead of the light pink.
The Hair: Keep your hair down during the day and then twist it up into a high bun or a side messy bun for a sleek and sophisticated up-do.
Pro Tip: Since most of the world uses MacBooks these days, there’s a handy little tool called Photo Booth. You can use it at your desk and it’s the perfect way to make sure your makeup is error-free.
2. The Cocktail Event
You got an invite to a swanky event, and you know some important people are going to be there. It’s best to go for a fancier look, because you don’t want to be that one person who’s underdressed. Did we mention that a statement outfit is also a great conversation starter?

The Outfit: For your daytime look, wear a fun tank top with a nice pair of slacks (or jeans if you have a casual office), and pair it with a neutral flat and a bright-colored jacket. To transition to the evening, switch from pants to a fun skirt, take off the jacket, and add an animal print pump.
The Makeup: Keep on your usual work makeup, and then add a bold red lipstick to rev up your look.
The Hair: Bring along a straightener during the day, so you fix up your look at night.
Pro Tip: There’s a thing called a mini straightener, and it’s so small that you could easily fit it in your clutch. No one would ever know that you have a hair salon in your purse.
3. The Last-Minute Look
Sometimes you have those moments where a last minute invite comes up, and you need to know what to do. The trick? Use your coworkers.

The Outfit: You came to work in plain black pants and a blouse: Cute for work, but not so good for the after party. Find a coworker that came to work with a blazer (like that coworker who rocked look 1) and borrow it for the night. Are you one of those people who keeps tons of shoes under your desk? Good. Pick a pair and wear them. Find a cute pair of earrings and you’re good to go.
The Makeup: Try your hand at a smokey eye. You’ll need black eyeliner, gray eye shadow (try this cheap palette from CoverGirl), and some mascara. Keep your lip neutral so all that attention is on your baby blues.
The Hair: Find some hairspray, flip your hair over, and go to town. It will give you a tousled look with lots of volume.
No one will know you forgot/didn’t know about the event until 4p.m.
