Someone is having a good week and her name is Eva Chen.

Condé Nast CEO Charles H. Townsend announced Tuesday in a release that Chen is Lucky magazine’s new Editor-in-Chief. Chen is the former beauty editor for Teen Vogue and she is replacing Brandon Holley, who has been Lucky’s Editor-in-Chief for the last three years. Even more interesting is that her new major gig brings her back to the publication where her impressive career in magazines started. One of her first jobs was as an assistant for Lucky.

After leaving Teen Vogue last year, Chen was serving as a consultant for Lucky and she clearly made her mark. Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour said in an official statement, “From the streets of New York City to Shanghai and everywhere in between, Eva is the quintessential Lucky girl. Lucky’s September issue will be her first opportunity to showcase her leadership ability, and I have every confidence she will meet the moment head-on.” Earning the praise of queen of fashion Anna Wintour? Running a magazine will be a piece of cake.

However, Lucky has reportedly been struggling for the last few years. This means her already big job has even more pressure. But Wintour has faith. She said in the statement:

Eva is a woman of tremendous talent and experience. I have worked with her over the last few years, both during her time at Teen Vogue and as she has been consulting with Lucky. Her lengthy experience in our industry gives her a solid foundation in both digital and e-commerce. Lucky’s September issue will be her first opportunity to showcase her leadership ability, and I have every confidence she will meet the moment head-on.

Good luck Eva!

I can't believe what a complement she received from Anna Wintour.

This is so inspiring! Especially since she started her career as an assistant at Lucky, this just goes to show that those connections you make early on, no matter how small, matter!!

This is so exciting! I love fashion magazines and a career in a the magazine industry is a dream of mine so seeing all the changes coming forth is simply wonderful. I'm looking forward to seeing what Ms. Chen brings to the table!

This is great! Definitely quite the compliment from Anna!

Eva ForEVAhh! Haha I just had to! Anyway, I'm a big fan of Eva Chen, I'm sure I'm not alone in this. Have been following her career since her Teen Vogue days. I don't know what it is about her but she's magnetic. Fashionista.com did a wonderful piece about her and why she's the first EIC of OUR generation. Hope you don't mind me sharing that link here: http://fashionista.com/2013/06/why-eva-chen-is-the-first-editor-in-chief-of-our-generation/
