We made it. It is the new year! So now what? We need to make this year all about leveraging the new you. We are not saying you should change how you were because you are great(!), but just leveraging what you got. Here are a few tips that you can start right away to be a better you in 2014! They may just change your life.
1. Play with an animal
Play with your dogs and cats or horses or monkeys or gekkos, etc. If you don’t have one, borrow a friends or volunteer at a shelter. Playing with an animal literally makes you happier and can reduce stress.
2. Go outside
Even on those cold days. Just do it. You’ll feel better.
3. Sleep more
The benefits for this one are numerous. Our memory and creativity get a boost from more sleep. Heck, we even live longer when we get enough sleep!
4. Take your attire up a notch
Don’t get rid of your wardrobe, but just figure out how you can upgrade it. Get a great statement necklace or new pair of heels. According to Highest Paying Careers, 65 percent of bosses say that what you’re wearing could be the deciding factor between two similar job candidates at a job interview.
Even if it just for 30 minutes. Turn that phone off. No Tweeting, no Instagram, no computer, etc., It will be tough, but we need to be less connected!

7. Mentor someone
Even if you feel like you aren’t far enough in your career to do that, you still know something that someone else doesn’t. Just share your experience with someone. It could be really useful to them.
