Scheduled, mediated and negotiated over 45 employment and housing complaints alleging Fair Employment and Housing Act, Americans Disabilities Act, Federal Medical Leave Act, California Family Rights Act, Unruh Civil Rights Act, and Ralph Civil Rights Act violations; Communicated with over 600 parties from various backgrounds including attorneys, immigrants, individuals with disabilities, and non-English speakers, regarding DFEH services and procedures, including confidentiality, neutrality, and investigation; Prepared written mutually agreeable settlement agreements; Reviewed pre-mediation submissions using case and code books, treatises, practice guides, and WestLaw; Evaluated complaints' importance and suspectibility to compromise and formulate ideas and practical suggestions for alternative solutions; Reviewed closed investigations, analyze departmental decision-making, and draft fourth level departmental appeal responses for Director; Presented update on employment and housing laws, such as regulatory changes affecting the California Family Rights Act, at Division meetings; Drafted legislative materials on Gender Identity and Expression and FEHA Housing Regulations for Fair Employment and Housing Council; Met DRD deadlines for completing mediations and reporting outcomes; Drafted various memoranda discussing case law and statutes relating to legal issues, including failure to engage in an interactive process, medical leaves, and requests for reasonable accommodations; Assisted Director in Department's December 2015 response to the rise in hate crimes against individuals of Muslim and Sikhs faiths; presented conflict resolution techniques and approaches to Hawaii's Human Rights Commission.
