UMD Interfraternity Council

Vice-President of Administrative Affairs

I was recently elected to the Executive Board of the Interfraternity Council (IFC), the governing body of 24 fraternities, to address issues facing over 3,600 students.

• In my term I will have to address issues of sexual assault, Greek stereotypes, multicultural inclusion, and miscommunication between the organization and the city of College Park. I will also be operating programs for recruitment, homecoming, tailgates, new member education and more.
• Thus far I have had the opportunity to put my leadership abilities into practice in the participation of conferences, recruitment, and membership development.

Maryland Model United Nations

Director of External Affairs

Model United Nations (MUN) is an extra-curricular activity in which students role-play delegates to the United Nations and simulate UN committees, with the intention to pass resolutions aimed to solve current global issues like food security, environmental sustainability, and a lot more.

• As a member of the Travelling MUN team, I get to put into practice the skills of debate, public speaking, negotiation, research, and writing (although lobbying my competing delegates for support ends up being the majority of the work).
• After the team's participation in UPMUNC (the 2nd largest collegiate Model United Nations conference which takes place at UPenn), we were recognized as an "Outstanding Delegation" by BestDelegate.com

Medfund

Co Founder

Medfund is a medical foundation established in La Paz, Bolivia, operating under the NGO "Cup of Cold Water Ministries." It is a cost effective, transparent medical aid program that attends only to urgent, well justified medical needs of people living in poverty. Currently operating in the "Hospital General" in La Paz, Medfund has adopted more than 50 patients.
Medfund operates by first finding patients at the hospital and evaluating the degree of urgency and the person’s financial condition to determine if aid is well justified. Medfund then pays the person’s most urgent medical bills and medicine, and then assists the person throughout their hospital experience, visiting them regularly until they are stable.
Medfund Differentiates itself from other local organizations by actually establishing a relationship with patients, and effectively stretching donor money as far as it can go. Medfund is also working on becoming a resident foundation at the Hospital to work with hospital directors, doctors, and staff to improve overall hospital conditions.

Phi Delta Theta Fraternity

Academic Chair, Fund Raising Co-Chair, Recruitment Committee

Phi Delta Theta is fraternity established in 1848 on the pillars of friendship, sound learning and rectitude. The Maryland Alpha Chapter of Phi Delta Theta at the University of Maryland in College Park was founded in 1930 and is the longest continuously standing chapter on campus with over 80 years of tradition.

• As co-chair to the fundraising committee, I oversaw the creation of various fundraising activities with local organizations and businesses to fund the fraternity’s annual philanthropy, Casino Night, which raised $21,000 last year.
• In response to a complacent culture, and low GPA rankings, I formed the Academics Committee, creating programs that look to promote academia through incentives, In just one semester Phi Delta Theta was the most improved chapter for the Fall '14 semester, going from 20th to 7th in the Interfraternity Council’s GPA Standings.
