Nominated by Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber as the first and only student voting member to the Board of Trustees for Portland State University, part of the governor’s comprehensive overhaul of Oregon’s public education system. Nominees were required to testify and be confirmed by the Oregon Senate. PSU’s new 15-member board will provide fiscal stewardship for the university while promoting student equity and access and excellence in teaching, research, and community service. The governing board will be responsible for overseeing their respective institution, including the authority to hire the President, issue bonds, set tuition (subject to HECC and legislative oversight), and operate as separate legal entities.

US Senator Jeff Merkley


As a U.S. Senate Intern, Ms. Campos was the frontline respondent for constituents, intaking and recording a wide-spectrum of federal and state issues addressed to or on behalf of U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley and his extensive Oregon/Washington D.C. staff. Work consisted of speaking to constituents, compiling the Senator's daily report, filtering imminent open cases, forwarding updates, and managing state and national agency representatives to Merkley staff members. Throughout the internship, Ms. Campos was also selected to work on specific special projects for a variety of different staff members including the State Director and Field Director such as grant support projects, event planning and policy/general research.
