co-organizer, fmly

FMLY is a global community composed of dozens of collectives and thousands of individuals. I am a co-founder of this community and currently hold responsibility for web management, facilitation of event and festival co-organization, and contribute to our growing multilogue with my own multidisciplinary performances and works. Through my work with FMLY I have been cited as an “underground luminary”, though I prefer human being, and my opportunities to engage in positive social constructivism have proved enormously fascinating.

In addition to becoming one of the most widely read independent arts websites on the web, FMLY also carries the honor of hosting the world's first truly independent solar-powered music and arts festival. It has been an honor and a privilege to facilitate five years worth of FMLY Fests and to see the passions of few manifest in the actions of many.

A collective oriented towards experimental methods of event curation. "We." was a Los Angeles-based endeavor, operating as a vehicle for flash mobs, sporadic concerts in parks, high schools, and houses, and even hosted monthly residencies between the Women's Center of Santa Monica and a fantastic chocolate shop in Culver City. As part of this residency 8-bit heartthrobs Anamanaguchi were brought to California for the first time.

IHEARTCOMIX is an event production company as well as a record label. As event coordinators the brand is responsible for Check Yo' Ponytail, a monthly dance night heralded for introducing eccentric and groundbreaking artists to both Los Angeles and the American music scene. As a label, quite similar, and one of their more prominent discoveries is that of Matt & Kim. For a solid year I had the opportunity to cover exciting new music as part of the IHEARTCOMIX brand and occasionally assist in the presentation of live events.

Upon moving to New York I was offered a position to write for CMJ, the College Music Journal. Additionally assisting with tasks such as data entry this experience encouraged me to not conform to industry standards of journalism and take a new perspective on creating content.
