Career

Oklahoma City University

Theatre Design and Production Student

I was Head of Wardrobe and Costume Designer for several shows. I have also worked in the costume shop as a work study employee. I have worked with just about every single textile and ribbon imaginable and have learned so much from it. On top of that I have also worked in the Stage Craft Lab and helped build sets from scratch. I also have helped paint each set and decorate them with home furnishings. It was a lot of interior design and involved designing an environment that could take the audience to another world. I have learned my way around several power tools and how to use them safely. I have also ran as a props assistant, and an assistant in the lighting design department.

Marquee Day Club

Head of Wardrobe

During the summer months to get the buzz out about EDC Marquee brought in dancers with Alice in Wonderland themed costumes. Not only did I partake in the making of these costumes but then I took care of them and worked and at the day club as the Head of Wardrobe. This entitled doing the dirty laundry and making sure that the dancers were in their appropriate costumes, wigs included. There was about 6 to 8 girls depending on the day and each girl had about four costumes. I had to keep all the pieces to the costumes together and keep each look organized to make sure the designers costumes weren't compromised and looked perfect on the dancers every day.

The most name recognized shows that I helped on were Jersey Boys, Le Reve and Pin Up, all shows on the strip that the Las Vegas locals have either already seen or are dying to go see. I was in charge of designing all of the costumes for one act in Las Vegas' Broadway Bares, the barest show on Earth. I learned how to bejewel, how to rhinestone, I've worked with Swarovski crystals, quilt, drape, pattern draft, sketch designs properly, how to distress, how to use all different types of sewing machinery, how to work with leather and metals, how to tailor, and most importantly how to form a loyal clientele.

DECA SWCTA

DECA Student Store Operations

During my high school years I operated the DECA Student Store every day at lunch. What that entailed was working the cash register, working with food and beverages, and also any promotional products such a t-shirts. During my time at the student store I really learned the value of what great customer service can do and also how important money handling is and how jeopardizing it can be to a company if handled wrong. I opened and closed the store everyday.

GREENfest Las Vegas

Event Planner

Through connections I have made within the environmentally friendly community I stumbled across the opportunity to create the first ever recycle reuse fashion show for GREENfest Las Vegas. I got people from my senior class together to create one recycled outfit out of unusual materials. I also made a design and show cased it on Channel 13 action news and was able to explain to local Las Vegans why this was so important to the industry of tomorrow. I set up a time and location for the fashion show, arranged the music and the order for the fashion show, and even got a professional photographer and was still able to get a panel of judges together to rate each outfit. I have to admit it was a struggle planning such a large event on my own when the only other things I've ever planned usually consisted of birthday parties but in the end it was an experience of a lifetime and all my hard work paid off. It couldn't have gone any better.

Star Costume and Theatrical Supply

Retail Assistant

During my senior year of High School I worked in retail at Star Costume. I assisted customers with picking out their costumes and figuring out how to do their special effects make up. When I wasn't working the fall season I helped people who worked at shows on the strip whether they were drag queens, street performers, or clowns with their make up and costumes as well. I also worked in the wig and props department. When all was said and done I'd work the cash register and check them out. Through this job I learned how to work with people no matter how strange and different they may seem at first and I left the store with a lot of great connections.
