HR Info Systems Manager

I am responsible to lead and co-ordinate a specialized team to develop, enhance and maintain the HR Systems (HURIS - Human Resources Information system), XTime - Time and Attendance system, LMS - Labour Management System (in-house manpower reporting tool, DAMS - Automated Absentee System, Issue item system and TM1 HR budgeting system. Last year AGA implemented SAP ERP in the FICO, MM, PM and PS streams. AGA decided not to implement HCM, thus my team are responsible to maintain, enhance and support the HURIS to SAP HCM interface to support workflow authorization in the other streams. With the roll-out of system enhancements or new functionality, I have to do roadshows and presentations to clients. In 2009 I lead a team to re-write the Time and Attendance system at AngloGold Ashanti. We replaced the Blick Blueline Time and Attendance system with a custom design XTime Time and Attendance system. I am very proud to say that with the 6 sites conversion, my team and I did not cause any production stoppages or incorrect salary payments that caused IR issues.

I was responsible to assist system users with HURIS (Human Resources Information System) queries. I had to drafted specification documents (requests) to enhance or comply to legal requirements. I had to liaise with our IS provider (BCX) so that the programmers develop solution according to specification. When the solution is provided, I had to test to make sure the solution is as per specification, before it is moved to the production environment.

During this period I was responsible for staffing, industrial relations, organizational development and labour analyst function for a production section (9S) and shaft engineering section at Kopanang mine. The section was +-1500 employees in size. I reported to the Senior HR officer. A total of five AHRO (Assistant HR officers) reported to me.

HR trainee (non graduate)

This was a in-house HR trainee position where my main responsibility was to learn how Human Resources is managed at AngloGold Ashanti limited. I was send on HR training course (principles & advance supervision, report writing, finance for non-financial managers, Industrial Relations, manpower planning) this normally take 3 years to complete, but I completed the training program in 2 years. I was placed in the residence (previously known as Hostels) but when I was given the opportunity to relief as a AHRO (Assistant HR officer) doing labour analyst work, I requested to stay on the business unit (shaft). I later on started to staff an equipping production section of +- 400 employees. It was my responsibility to ensure that crews was sufficiently manned and that the correct skills were AT WORK and that correct people go on leave.

I was responsible to ensure that all Workmen category employee salaries was administrated and correctly paid. I later moved to the Miner & Artisan category employees salary administration. This was at that stage a document input sheet system, which included bonus payment and timesheet to dummy timesheet transfer and overtime, standby, call out and absentee processing to the payroll system. During this time I also started to relief as Accounts Supervisor checking the work of the clerks before it is processed to Payroll.
