HMV

Senior Analyst Programmer

Originally head of a team of 5 responsible for the maintenance of the “Track System”, which is a heavily bespoked version of the JDA System. The team were responsible for fixing errors and developing new functionality.
All the work done by my team was passed back to me for verification before moving on to our QA Department for System testing.
I was also Account Manager for the UK Operating Company (HMV UK). This involves Total Support for the UK stores. This includes logging calls, liaising with UK Head Office as their first point of contact, designing and coding new functionality, fixing errors with the current system, holding resource meetings, allocating work to all the programmers and prioritising calls.
I was also part of a team responsible for the development of code for all HMV operating companies throughout the world. This includes UK, Waterstones, Ottakers, Canada, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia and Singapore. This can involve working on-site. For example, I spent 11 weeks in Tokyo in 2004 implementing the “Track 2” project, which is a new version of the Track System used by all the stores. This lead to a full time position in Tokyo which is explained elsewhere.

Upon returning from Japan I returned to HMV UK where I have worked as a Senior Analyst Programmer / Technical Lead. This involves liaising with the business estimating development/testing time and resource from the user requirements, then writing the functional and/or technical design documents, allocating the development work or, mostly, carrying out the development myself, writing the implementation documents and support handover documents and liaising the the UAT testers to ensure the development is completed on time and as per the user requirements.

Once HMV Japan was sold by HMV Group in September 2007 I managed HMV Japan developments with the Japanese team, looking after 60+ Stores, Finance and e-commerce.
