I collaborated with the professor to design lesson plans that complemented the course's curriculum in weekly three-hour lectures to a classroom of 25 college freshmen. The drop-in center assists homeless and/or impoverished youth, specifically in the LGBTQ community, by utilizing the harm-reduction model when interacting with those who express harmful thoughts/behaviors. I worked to develop lasting personal relationships with youth by facilitating open and frequent dialogue, and I also trained new volunteers in their tasks and responsibilities. My clerical duties included supervising the front desk, answering phone calls, and registering new youth to the space. I also led a workshop on resume-building and job-searching for youth without work experience and/or with criminal backgrounds.
