Catering Server

Brûlée Catering Company

Hi, I'm Natalie and I have a passion for biology and conservation, specifically shark conservation. I love all animals and want to help keep their environments healthy and thriving. Hoping to shift my energy and focus to such a career path, I took a break from being a lab assistant and am working toward my goal as I...

Eckerd College

Bachelor of Science, Marine Science, Biology track

After attending a university I felt very stifled at, I found a school that was similar on paper, yet so very different. Eckerd College nourished my curiosity and helped my passion blossom. From the winter terms, where the world is your classroom, to the annual Kappa Karnival to kick off the summer, I would not be the same person without the exquisite shaping of my alma mater.

Abington Senior and Junior High Schools

Science Aide

Working as the high school lab assistant allowed me to maintain, and expand upon, my chemistry knowledge while out of school. Mixing chemical solutions on a daily basis kept molarity, measurements, and chemical properties in the foreground of my mind. Down time at the schools was spent with the science department teachers, performing fun side experiments of our own, such as constructing folding microscopes and creating a 3D rendering of my skull from a cat scan. I also helped the physics teachers fix their equipment and managed the science office by organizing and ordering supplies as needed.

Companion Pet Hospital

Veterinarian Technician

Even though I moved back to Philadelphia after graduating from a Florida institution with a degree in marine science, I wanted to stay in a laboratory setting. Being a vet tech provided me with the right type of work place and extended my scientific knowledge into the medical field. I learned a lot about animal wellness and pharmaceuticals, all while cuddling cute pets!

Studies in and out of the Classroom

Bimini Biological FIeld Station

I spent a week studying under Doctor Gruber, of University of Miami, at his shark laboratory in Bimini, Bahamas. During my time there, I swam with and handled several species of sharks, performed active tracking on tagged ones, and fed stingrays and lemon sharks.

Winter Term in the Amazon

I spent one month hiking and learning conservation efforts in the Amazon Rainforest of Suriname, South America. One week was spent in the capitol, visiting many conservation organizations, while the rest of the time was spent submerged, hiking, in the rawest form of nature.

Jacques Cousteau said “It takes generosity to discover the whole through others. If you realize you are only a violin, you can open yourself up to the world by playing your role in the concert.” This quote inspires me because it speaks of human selfishness which contributes to environmental decay, but reminds us that, united, we are not hopeless.
