"Kindness Changes Everything"

Philosophy of Education

Love, Respect, High Expectations

I am a positive, enthusiastic educator, passionate about creating an encouraging classroom environment and building relationships with students and families. I design focused, collaborative and differentiated lessons with high expectations that motivate students to enjoy learning.
I believe that by fostering kindness and positivity in my classroom I will create an environment where students will not be afraid to take chances, follow their passions and grow more than they could ever imagine.

Creating a Positive Environment
Student Teaching Fourth Grade

To kick off a new STEM unit, I created and implemented a grade wide jigsaw lesson. Each class was split up into expert groups. Each group learned something different about pinewood derby cars and presented the information to the class through multiple different formats.

Personally Developed Writing Unit

This writing unit was based on the curriculum by Zoi Phillipakos but went beyond the basic writing process taught through her program. The students were asked to write about the similarities and differences between primary and secondary source, a high level skill for fourth graders.

"Every student can learn just not on the same day or in the same way"- George Evans
Student Teaching K-2 Spec Ed

In this classroom I worked with very diverse learners. I had to find ways to teach the same standards, in many different formats and levels

Using Engaging Text

During my daily read alouds, I would pick stories that I knew related to my students, or contained content that would excite them. I used these read alouds as a theme for the rest of my lessons, connecting all the different content areas.

Individualized Education Plans

I worked alongside my clinical educator and the school's educational diagnostician to assist in writing four IEPS. In addition, I participated in multiple IEP meetings.
