Public Relations Graduate Student

University of Georgia

I believe in the power of hard work and positivity. I'm a public relations graduate student who's about to enter the workforce full time. I have a passion for writing, traveling and communicating with others.

University of Georgia

Master of Arts, Public Relations

I've been lucky enough to be a double dawg. I've done both my bachelor's and master's at the University of Georgia. The university has given me wonderful opportunities, like joining PRSA and getting to do a full PR campaign for a client. Pictured is the famous arch at UGA, a landmark I have known and loved for years.

University of Georgia

Bachelor's of Journalism (ABJ), Bachelor's of Arts (AB), Mass Media Arts, Political Science

As an undergraduate, I double majored in Mass Media Arts and Political Science. I have interests in communications, media and politics. I like to know what's going on in the world around me and how I can contribute to the conversation.

Social Media Columnist

GenTwenty, a blog for twenty-somethings, offers articles to young professionals on personal and professional life. I serve as a columnist for the site. I write GenSocial, which offers social media advice for young millennials in the workforce.

RaceTrac Petroleum

Marketing Intern

In the summer of 2014, I served as intern on the Brand Communications team at RaceTrac. I identified social media opportunities that drove sales and increased brand awareness for the organization. I also wrote monthly reports on social engagement and created weekly newsletters for the company. Our intern class picture is to the right.

Infusion Magazine

Infusion Magazine, a UGA student-run publication, focuses on multicultural issues. For four years, I was part of the magazine. I served as opinions writer, opinions editor, managing editor and finally editor-in-chief. In each role, I spent time writing and editing others' work. I participated in creating eight issues of the publication.

Social Media Intern

I developed social media plans for WUGA-TV and WUGA-FM over the course of summer 2013. Doubled the number of "likes" on the TV's Facebook as well as created a Twitter account for the FM station. The brought in several hundred new likes during the summer and increased interaction with fans of the stations.

Jeannette Rankin Scholarship Fund

Public Relations Intern

For spring of 2013, I helped with the public relation efforts of the nonprofit Jeannette Rankin Fund. I interviewed students who received scholarships and wrote articles about them. I maintained the JRF blog and social media accounts. I also helped out with their annual fundraising event the High Hat Party.

Georgia Power

Corporate Communications Intern

I worked full time in the communications department for a summer. Wrote articles for the company intranet. Regularly interviewed and researched topics for written assignments. Covered Usher's New Look Foundation event at corporate headquarters. Copy edited stories and newsletters for the department.

UGA School of Social Work

Communications Intern

I served as communications intern and assisted the director of communications. I interviewed professors and students for features on the website. I recorded, edited and posted podcasts on website. I also wrote and edited press releases and alumni magazine.

Thinking Talents

The Thinking Talents quiz shows that I thrive on procedural talents. I like to get things done. I like to be reliable. I like to focus on the task at hand. I also took this quiz a second time and found that my relational talents also distinguish me, especially my feeling for others.

Movies have shaped who I am and how I view the world. They've also influenced my writing.

I travel whenever I get the chance. My favorite trip was getting to go to Ireland and see Galway.

Millennials in public relations

I was fortunate to participate in an e-book made by students in the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. We made a book on the perceptions of millennials in the PR workforce. I was an editor on the final product and made this video to explain what we created.

“Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine, and at last, you create what you will” – George Bernard Shaw
