SolarList enables residential photovoltaic (solar) installers to dramatically reduce their customer acquisition costs (CAC) and subsequently the installed cost of solar. SolarList is a software-driven service that guides a solar customer through a series of queries about their home and electricity usage, a familiar pattern in the industry, but uniquely provides an instant, educational and realistic solar assessment. To deliver an instant estimate we build bridges between best-in-class industry datasets and APIs as well as our own transparent and open source financial model.
We embrace a holistic system approach to operating the customer acquisition funnel. On the back-end, homeowners who opt to receive quotes are connected with installers, which SolarList monetizes based on a typical lead generation fee arrangement. At the top of the funnel, SolarList seamlessly tracks referrers who drive customers to the site and provides referral incentives. The most innovative variation of this referral platform is our program to train election-style canvassers to use a specially-designed mobile version of the site to assist potential customers through the wizard, all the while earning commissions. In addition to building the best solar education and lead generation website, SolarList is effectively building Obama For America’s Narwhal application for solar customer acquisition, empowering and incentivizing activists and entrepreneurs to be solar evangelists.
