RLC Architects

Marketing & Business Development Manager

A mid-sized architectural firm, this position encompassed both marketing and business development efforts. My duties as Marketing Manager started with an overhaul of the firm's collateral material. RLC had gone through several name changes and the current materials lacked cohesiveness. With guidance from the firms Principals, the image was streamlined and a new look was designed and produced successfully in house, thus allowing for flexibility and cost savings. Other marketing duties consisted of writing press releases, maintaining relationships with media outlets, vendors, consultants and clients; and seeking occasions to present our message.
As Business Development Manager, it was my job to find new opportunities for the firm. I researched leads, developed strategic positioning for growth, and represented the firm at various professional organizations. In addition, I was responsible for conceiving and compiling marketing proposals and presentations.

Reason for leaving: Due to the economy, the company was forced to downsize. I am currently working as a consultant for the firm on an as needed basis.

Career

PQH Architecture & Engineering

Director of Marketing

As the Director, I represented the company to the public and was charged with the growth of the business for all disciplines including architecture, interior design and engineering. It was my responsibility to research, develop and produce proposals & presentations, as well as design all collateral materials used for advertising and marketing purposes. I worked closely with each department to insure that clients were satisfied from the project’s inception to completion.

I was also the driving force behind the firm’s new corporate image. We needed to know how the firm was viewed by both internal and external customers, competing businesses, and the general public. Research and off-site retreats with the Principals helped narrow down a marketing plan. Our new image was reinforced through an ad campaign, a revamp of our marketing materials and a new corporate web site. As part of this effort, I was also commissioned with creating a “marketing friendly” office interior, ensuring that our space could be used to reinforce our message and serve as a portfolio for our clients. During this time I also served on the board of directors for the local Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS).

Reason for leaving: Illness which required surgery. The time between my postings at PQH and RLC were spent convalescing, moving, setting up and keeping house in Maryland (where my husband was transferred) and working on a home business.
