Editorial Assistant

Food Network Magazine

• Acted as primary aide and assistant to the Editor-in-Chief. Responsible for calendar management, meeting prep, primary and secondary research, expenses, and all administrative duties.

• Pitched & edited three (3) pages every month: Star Index, TOC, and Reader Letters pages.

• Acted as aide and assistant to the Executive Editor and Managing Editor.

• Read & responded to approx. 50 reader emails every week. Considered their editorial requests, assisted them with concerns and complaints, and forwarded their comments to the appropriate editorial departments.

• Interviewed, hired and managed a team of approx. 3 features interns per semester. Constructed and implemented an internship program and kept them informed of networking & editorial opportunities.


Seventeen Magazine

Assistant to the Editor in Chief

• Acted as primary contact person for and aide to the Editor-in-Chief: Responsible for calendar planning, sorting and packaging reader mail for staff, office organization, party planning and supply tracking.
• Worked in conjunction with the Features Department to assist Health/Life/News/Entertainment/Love editors with research, story planning, brainstorming and monthly pitches. Helped compile an entire 4-pg Internship Special Package, as the primary reporter for the piece.
• Acted as Seventeen Ambassador: Organized teen girl panels, conducted tours and hosted office visits with high profile visitors, contest winners and readers. 

• Helped maintain partnerships and educational programming between Seventeen and Fresh Air Fund's Camp ABC, Fresh Air Fund's Young Womens' Giving Circle, Fresh Air Fund's College Initiative Program, Young Womens' Leadership Schools, She's The First, Ed 2010 University Chapters and various school clubs.

Co-Founder and VP of Marketing

Helped kickstart the campus chapter of a New York-based nonprofit devoted to educating disadvantaged girls around the world, successfully organized our fall campaign to raise over $500, co-sponsored a Charity Fashion Show with our campus fashion magazine which raised over $800, and helped host our first-ever Cupcake Gala this spring. Also launched and managed the Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and web pages for the organization.


The Forum Greek Newspaper


Managed web content (HTML and Blogger) for a student newspaper at the University of Michigan that chronicles Greek life, conducted interviews, edited new articles and organized our submission schedule. I also secured over 34,000 page views, continued to build our Twitter and Facebook following and developed our summer intern series.
